Inquiry Found Graft Charges On Prajapati To Be True
Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Wednesday removed Prof B A Prajapati as the vice chancellor of the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU) over charges of corruption and gross irregularities.
The decision to remove Prajapati (62) from the post of VC of the Patan-based university was taken after an inquiry by the state Lokayukta concluded that he had misused his powers and indulged in “serious irregularities and corruption”, state government said in an official statement.
Prajapati was appointed as the VC of this state-run university in December 2016. Prior to that, he had served as the VC of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University.
The colleges of four districts- Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha — are affiliated to HNGU.
According to sources in HNGU, Prajapati was accused of corruption and irregularities in recruitments, printing of stationery for the university, construction work, admission process in education colleges to name afew.
“Prajapati has been head of department of management and MBA department since 1996 in HNGU,” said university registrar DM Patel.
