What UIDAI says on Linking of Aadhaar card with bank account for NRIs/OCIs
"NRI/OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) are not eligible to obtain Aadhaar as per the Aadhaar Act and hence are fully exempted to produce Aadhaar for any verification... NRI/OCI need not verify their bank account or SIM or PAN with Aadhaar. If required, they may inform the service provider(s) that they being NRI/OCI are exempted from Aadhaar verification," the UIDAI said on Twitter. The UIDAI was explaining whether it is mandatory for NRIs or OCIs holding accounts in India to get their Aadhaar card linked by the December 31 deadline.
For Aadhaar card holders - other than NRIs and OCIs - linking of your Aadhaar with your bank account is safe and secure and the government takes all possible measures to ensure it, the UIDAI has said.
