An intelligence input warning of terrorist attacks on police agencies probing terror cases generated by central agencies has led to police putting out safety guidelines.
The guidelines include a ban on carrying of mobile phones and bags into the agency campus by visitors.
Crime branch officials said the terror threat input says law enforcement and investigating agencies dealing with terror cases are under serious threat of being attacked with IEDs (improvised explosive devices)."The input was generated last month, after which the agencies were forced to come up with guidelines. We have banned carrying of mobile phones and bags by visitors into the agency premises," a senior crime branch official said. Crime branch sources said special cupboards are available to store vistors' phones and other belongings. We will issue a token to the visitor for the deposits of belongings at the entry point. Several senior police officials had already barred visitors from carrying mobiles into their chambers much before this terror threat input was issued.
