Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani has announced to pay Rs 1,000 per month from November 1,2016 as pension payable to the widow women of the state. The increment in pension will be benefitted to as many as 1.52 lakh women beneficiaries. It is worth to point out that Rupani gave Deepavali gift to the women beneficiaries who are getting widow pension.
The state government is paying within a limit of their yearly income worth Rs 47,000 in rural area and Rs 68,000 in urban area as widow pension to women beneficiaries of the state under Niradhar Vidhva Sahay Yojna. Presently the state government is paying minimum Rs 750 as pension to widow beneficiary women and Rs 100 per minor child within a limit of two minor children. The total budget of this scheme is worth Rs 190 crore. As a result of the decision taken by CM, additional burden worth Rs 20 crore will be bear by state treasury.
