City crime branch on Tuesday filed a complaint against former Shahibaug police inspector Jatin Prajapati and two constables for atrocities. The complaint was registered after allegations by Ravi Rana, a 22-year-old teacher, who was allegedly beaten up brutally by Prajapati and the others. Prajapati is currently with city traffic branch.According to crime branch officials, Ravi Rana, a teacher in Shahibaug Primary School, was accused of beating up students in class.
A video of the incident which took place on March 18 had gone viral where Rana was seen hitting eight students in a class. When one of the students spoke out of the incident, one parent lodged a complaint and Rana was subsequently fired from the school."When Rana was caught by police soon after and released after a day, he was hospitalized and claimed that he was beaten up by police and made to do sit-ups. A complaint was registered and crime branch will probe the claim," said a crime branch official..
