On Wednesday afternoon, the immigration authorities at London's Heathrow Airport detained Akshay Kumar for over an hour-and-a-half after the Bollywood actor was found to have been travelling without a valid visa.
The discrepancy arose when Akshay, who arrived in London from Mumbai along with his personal trainer, for a 15-day shoot of his upcoming period drama, Rustom, was held from 7 am to 8.45 am (British Summer Time) during which he was made to sit in a general holding area for detained passengers.
Airport officials informed Mirror UK that Akshay, that the rules allow a Canadian national to visit the UK as a tourist without a visa. However, when asked about the purpose of this visit, the actor disclosed that it was for a film shoot, which made a visa stamp necessary. And was hence detained.
