Actress Jiah Khan was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her Juhu residence on June 3, 2013 and on Wednesday, the Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) submitted a charge sheet to a Sessions Court and like the Juhu police, they too have charged actor Sooraj Pancholi, Jiah's boyfriend at the time of her death, with abetting her suicide.
CBI has released a statement which reads that the three page note, written by Jiah, which was seized by the cops in June 2013, which narrated her intimate relationship with the said private person (Sooraj) and also the abuse she suffered at his hands, has been 'thoroughly and scientifically' examined. Officially the CBI has not taken any individual's name in the charge sheet and has only stated that a case under Section 306 of the IPC has been made out against a 'private person'.
In her note Jiah had written about her abortion and the CBI in its charge sheet has given chilling details about it. The CBI claims that Jiah was four weeks pregnant, when she informed Pancholi about it. The couple then spoke to a physician, who prescribed them some medicines to terminate the pregnancy. However, when that didn't work, they sought help of a gynecologist, who prescribed stronger drugs to the actress.
After taking the pills, the Nishabd star started hemorrhaging, post which she called up Pancholi. The Hero actor then called up the gynaec, who instructed him to rush her to a hospital as the doctor feared that the foetus may have got aborted but not expelled from her body. As Sooraj didn't want their relationship to become public, as he felt that it might affect his career which was about to take off, he took matters in his own hands and instead of taking her to a hospital extricated the foetus himself and disposed it in the toilet.
The charge sheet alleges that this incident had a huge impact on Jiah and when the actor started avoiding her, possibly for the sake of his career, she became an emotional wreck and eventually took her life.
This gory incident was not mentioned in the charge sheet filed by the police and came to light only when the CBI interrogated the doctors. The CBI has also recorded statements of Pancholi's domestic help, his building's watchman, the florist who delivered the last bouquet to Jiah and also actress Anju Mahendroo among others.
The High Court instructed the CBI to investigate the case in July 2014, after Jiah's mother Rabiya Amin moved the HC alleging foul play in her daughter's death.
