The Railway Protection Force (RPF) today held three persons and seized Rs 2.5 crore in cash from them at the Kalupur railway stationhere.
As they could not explain the source of the cash, the RPF informed the Income Tax officials for the purpose of further probe, said the senior divisional security commissioner Satya Prakash. "A person alighted from Rajdhani Express at around 9.40 AM carrying a large bag. Suspecting his movements the RPF sub- inspector Dinesh Pandey followed him upto the exit gate where two others came to receive him. Pandey stopped them and took them to police station," said Prakash.
We found Rs 2.5 crore in the bag. Nathabhai Dabhi who was carrying the bag told the police that he worked for a city based angadia (courier) firm and had come here from Delhi to make a delivery," the officer said.
The other two were identified as Alpesh Patel and Arvind Patel, both of whom claimed to be working at an angadia firm in Ratan Pol area of the city. "We also called the owner of the firm but he could not provide any documents related to the money. So we seized the cash and informed the Income Tax department which will conduct further probe," said Prakash.
