Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court on Thursday told the state government not to sanction Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority’s (AUDA) three town planning (TP) schemes in Ghuma area till February 14.
The stay came after the Ghuma Plot Owners’ Welfare Association challenged the draft scheme No 1, 2 and 3 on the ground that the draft town planning schemes were prepared and sent for the state government’s approval without preparation of any development plan in the area.
AUDA had notified draft TP schemes and invited objections. The urban body later sent the draft schemes to the state government for its consent. However, the residents objected to the procedure on the ground that the reconstitution process in several societies as per these schemes has cause a situation, wherein 200 persons are to be accommodated in 180 plots left after mandatory reduction. The petitioners cited examples of Green City and Aarohi to show how even reservation of plots are not done in proper manner. The petitioners have called for proper reservation of plot.
After hearing the case, HC asked the state government not to grant consent to the draft schemes till February 14, when further hearing is kept. In the meantime, the state government, chief town planner and AUDA have been asked to explain the issue.
