Ahmedabad: Following several threat letters, three CCTV cameras were installed at the city metropolitan court on Tuesday. Fingers have often been pointed at the security arrangements at the court which sees thousands of people daily. The cameras were installed at critical locations at the court in Gheekantha.
The court has received threatening letters and hoax bomb calls on several occasions in the past few years. The lawyers at the court had even gone on a four-day strike demanding proper security measures.
Only recently, an anonymous letter proclaiming affiliation to Indian Mujahideen threatened of bomb blast in court if a terror accused arrested by city police was not freed immediately. Soon, city police were informed and senior cops rushed to the spot with dog and bomb detection squads. A thorough search followed leading to no result.
