The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the Delhi high court proceedings by which it had suspended the special CBI court's order granting bail to former telecom minister A Raja's ex-personal secretary RK Chandolia.
The apex court bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir stayed the high court proceedings after senior counsel Mukul Rohtagi mentioned the matter before the court.
The bench initially expressed its inability to hear the matter as the same was being heard by a special bench headed by Justice GS Singhvi.
But it stayed the proceedings after Rohtagi told the court that the bail granted to Chandolia may be cancelled by the high court on Wednesday.
Chandolia was granted bail by the special CBI court hearing the 2G case. The high court, on its own initiative, stayed the bail and had directed Chandolia to appear before it on Wednesday.
