The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain the bail plea of former secretary general of CWG Organising Committee (OC) Lalit Bhanot, telling him to approach the trial court with his plea.
Bhanot is in prison, having been arrested by the CBI for his role in awarding a contract at inflated rates.
Allowing Bhanot to withdraw his petition, a Bench of Justices J M Panchal and H L Gokhale also said the trial court would not be influenced by critical observations made by the Delhi High Court while denying bail to him.
Bhanot was arrested on February 23 this year along with former director general of CWG OC V K Verma for awarding the contract for installing Timing, Scoring and Result (TSR) systems for the Games to a Swiss firm at highly inflated costs, causing a loss of over Rs 90 crore to the public exchequer.
Both the Special CBI Judge and the Delhi High Court have denied bail to Bhanot.
