Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court refused to entertain the petition filed by Sant Shree Asaram Ashram in Motera, challenging the summons issued by the justice D K Trivedi commission to Asaram and his son Narayansai.
A bench headed by justice Jayant Patel questioned why the petition was not filed by the persons who are sought to be summoned for questioning by the probe panel. Following this, the petition was withdrawn with liberty to file it afresh by Asaram and his son.
The commission is probing the death of two kids — Dipesh and Abhishek Waghela — in July 2008 near the ashram. Asaram’s counsel has been arguing before the probe panel that this is not the stage to summon the spiritual leader, for it is not proper on part of the commission to conclude in the midst of the inquiry that he would be indicted.
