HC asks Adanis to file another affidavit on benefits to poor patients in Bhuj
The Gujarat High Court on Thursday asked the Adani Group to file a fresh affidavit with regard to the proposals for the benefits of patients. The court issued the directions during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Adam B Chaki, Vice President, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee. The petition raised questions over handing over the management of G K hospital to Adani Institute of Medical Science (GAIMS). The petition mentioned that prior to 2001, the residents of district Kutch got free medical services from the hospital. Later following an earthquake, it received a donation of Rs 100 crore from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for a well-equipped hospital. However without any justification, the government passed a resolution on May 27, 2009 stating that the management of G K General hospital and the connected medical college, was leased out on an agreement of 99 years to GAIMS to run the hospital and medical college. The next hearing has been scheuled for August 17.
