Register your property, govt asks people
Ahmedabad: Reacting to builders’ decision to refrain from property registration till May 5, 2011, to oppose new jantri rates, the Gujarat government appealed people not to get misled by half truth.
Government spokesperson Jay Narayan Vyas said that the state government is open to hearing problems of people and representations concerning jantri. There is no provision in the Mumbai Stamp Act to invite suggestions before preparing jantri rates, and yet the state sought inputs from farmers, builder associations, industrialists and financial organisations, he said, adding that as the new jantri is in force from April 1, 2011, fixed properties will have to be registered as per the new rates.
