Ahmedabad: This is the second police officer to be arrested on corruption charges from the Sarkhej police station.
In 2010, deputy superintendent of police Rajendrasinh Rana was caught by the ACB for bribery. Rana’s office too was at the Sarkhej police station campus. A complaint against Rana was filed by Mahendra Upadhyay, a land owner in Sarkhej.
Upadhyay claimed that Rana had asked for a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for not arresting him in a land dispute complaint filed at Aslali police station.
Rana was arrested by the ACB officials soon after he had taken Rs 3 lakh bribe from Upadhyay in a car near Prahaladnagar garden in Satellite. TNN
