NEW DELHI: The judge who handed death penalty to Mohammed Arif — one of the terrorists convicted in the Red Fort attack case of 2000 — will now try A Raja and other accused in the high profile 2G spectrum scam case.
The Delhi HC, sources said, has designated judge O P Saini's CBI court as the special court to exclusively hear the spectrum allocation case. Saini's court, in Patiala House court complex, is already hearing the matter and all those arrested by CBI in connection with the scam are produced before him for remand and bail purposes.
Sources told TOI that a high-level meeting was held in the past few days, chaired by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, to set up an exclusive court for the 2G cases as per the SC's instructions.
