Hasan Ali’s wife refuses to appear before ED

Mumbai: Tax evader Hasan Ali Khan’s wife Rheema Khan has refused to appear before the Enforcement Directorate though she was summoned after his arrest. ED officials said they tried to locate her at Khan’s Mumbai and Pune residences after his arrest on March 7. “She is avoiding us. We certainly will question her on her Swiss bank account and also on Khan’s bank accounts,” an ED official said.
But Khan’s lawyer I P Bagaria said she would appear before the ED on April 1 and has sent a fax informing officials about it. “We are not aware of it,” an ED official said.
Bagaria said Rheema will meet Khan’s lawyers appearing in the Supreme Court on Monday when ED submits its status report. Rheema also maintained one foreign bank account though it was closed soon after she opened the account. TNN
