CHENNAI: Former telecom minister A Raja's aide and realtor Sadhick Batcha was found dead, hanging, in his residence in Chennai on Wednesday. The CBI had questioned Batcha in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.
Police sources said Batcha might have committed suicide. Apollo Hospitals, where he was rushed to, confirmed that he was brought dead at 1.20pm. ( BJP demands CBI probe into Batcha's death )
"He was brought dead to the Apollo hospital at about 1:30 pm. The family says he had hanged himself. Police is yet to verify anything. We are investigating," Chennai Police Commissioner T Rajendran told PTI.
Sadhick Batcha was managing director of real estate firm Green House Promoters. Raja's relatives have stakes in Green House promoters. Batcha was questioned thrice by the CBI and was to be grilled again.
Police said Batcha's wife Rahena Banu found his room on the first floor locked from inside around noon. When there was no response to her repeated knocks, she took help from a domestic aide to force open the door and found Batcha hanging from the ceiling. Police have cordoned off the Eldam's Road house.
Batcha's body was taken from Apollo Hospital to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The body is expected to be taken to Perambalur, his native place.
