Mumbai: A day after his suspension, controversial information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari faced another setback on Friday. The Supreme Court refused to stay the order suspending the retired IAS officer, who is allegedly involved in the multicrore Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society scam.
Tiwari had moved the court against the suspension order, but the court said Tiwari should face a probe by an SC judge. “The Supreme Court heard Tiwari’s lawyer, but refused to grant interim relief, saying he should face the inquiry. Later, Tiwari withdrew his special leave petition,” said Sanjay Kharde, counsel for the state government.
A week after the Cabinet advised governor K Sankaranarayanan to suspend Tiwari following his alleged role in the Adarsh scam, he filed an SLP in anticipation of the suspension on January 19.
