The court of Sessions Judge A C Rao decided not to grant bail since Chavda has been termed as the main conspirator in the case whom different courts had denied anticipatory bail. Chief Public Prosecutor Sudhir Brahmbhatt had contended that Chavda was the principal conspirator and misused his office to help the students of influential families. He also argued Chavda was declared an absconder.
The case pertains to two students who are children of two prominent builders from Ahmedabad — Pravin Kotak and Sanjay Patel. The students had absented themselves from Class XII Board examination feigning orthopaedic injuries. But two proxy writers were found taking the exam at AG Teachers School on their behalf.
