Tulsiram Prajapati, the sharpshooter from Ujjain and Sohrabuddin Sheikh’s trusted lieutenant, predicted the exact manner in which the Gujarat and Rajasthan Police would stage his death.
A month before he was killed, Prajapati told the Ahmedabad Principal Judge that the police would help him run away from custody and then kill him in an ‘encounter’.
“After the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and murder of Kauserbi, Prajapati knew that his death was imminent at the hands of the Gujarat Police in connivance with the Rajasthan Police as he was the only surviving prime witness to the abduction and killing,” CBI has told the Supreme Court in an investigation report that unravels the “truth” behind Prajapati’s death.
Police accounts of the night of December 26-27, 2006, record that Prajapati escaped from the custody of his four-man police escort on the way back from Ahmedabad to Udaipur in connection with the Popular Builders case.
