The U.K. Border Agency (UKBA) and the Chennai Police have cooperated in the arrest of a United Kingdom visa applicant for visa fraud. The applicant was arrested at the UKBA offices in Chennai on October 8, after he submitted falsified documents in support of a Tier-1 (highly-skilled migrant) visa application.
UKBA Entry Clearance Manager Gemma Dodgson said: “Unfortunately we are seeing increasing numbers of forged documents. Our document checks are very thorough. The U.K. Border Agency refuses applications that are supported by false documents and the applicant also faces a ban of up to 10 years on travel to the U.K. As this case shows, we will also refer cases to the police, with whom we have good cooperation.”
In the first 9 months this year, almost 1,000 persons have had their applications turned down by the UKBA in Chennai, says a release.
