Evidence substantial, no bail for Amit Shah: CBI court

The Special CBI Court on Friday rejected the bail application of the former Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Amit Shah, holding that there was substantial evidence against him in the Sohrabuddin-Kausarbi murder case.

Special CBI judge G.K. Upadhyaya said that on a perusal of the statements recorded under Sections 161 and 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, there were “reasons to believe that there is substantial evidence against Mr. Shah.

“If released on bail, he may misuse his political position and may create obstacles in the way of the investigations.”
