New Delhi: Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia has initiated a move to transfer 20 judges of different high courts across the country, in what is being seen as an important move to tackle the growing perception of various kinds of irregularities in the judiciary.Invoking “public interest”, the CJI has written to the chief justices of high courts asking them to work out the modalities for moving out the judges in question. As many as eight of the 20 judges on the CJI’s transfer list belong to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, according to sources.
He has also written to the individual judges concerned asking them where they would like to be relocated, something which seems to suggest the seriousness of his intent and may be interpreted as investing the exercise with an element of finality.
